Graduates report job rates
A survey suggests Australian university graduates are experiencing unprecedented levels of full-time employment and salary increases.
The 2023 Graduate Outcomes Survey indicates that employment rates for graduates within the first four to six months after graduation have reached their highest levels since 2016.
This trend underscores the benefits of obtaining a university qualification and aligns with the Albanese Government's objective to expand tertiary education access.
According to the survey, the undergraduate employment rate has risen to 79 per cent, while the overall employment rate has increased to 88.9 per cent in 2023.
Additionally, graduates are seeing significant improvements in their median salaries.
In 2023, the median salary for undergraduates was $71,000, marking a 4.4 per cent increase from 2022.
Postgraduate coursework graduates earned a median salary of $96,600, a 5.5 per cent increase from the previous year. Postgraduate research graduates saw their median salary rise to $100,000, a 4.2 per cent increase from 2022.
The survey also highlights positive outcomes for specific groups.
First Nations graduates achieved a full-time employment rate of 82.8 per cent and a median salary of $75,000.
Graduates from regional universities reported a full-time employment rate of 83.7 per cent and a median salary of $71,400.
