Financial Accountant

 

About the role:

An exciting opportunity to join Box Hill Institute (BHI) as one of our Financial Accountants!

The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager in the financial management of BHI by coordinating all financial transaction processing and financial reporting. The role assists the Accounting Manager to maintain general ledger integrity by ensuring that all reconciliations are completed on a timely basis and all journal entries are validated with appropriate narrations, approvals and audit trails.

The Financial Accountant acts as the finance partner to the business, prepares monthly reports and variance analysis. This role works with stakeholders in understanding key financial drivers, identifies and reports issues that have a financial impact, and contributes to budgeting and forecasts. The Financial Accountant provides high-quality, technical advice in relation to the structure of financial transactions, interpretation of Australian Accounting Standards and other legal, regulatory and contractual requirements.

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the BHI’s asset management function, including capital expenditure, asset acquisitions and disposals. The role also manages the day to day banking functions, including reconciling bank accounts, controlling banking access and monitoring the cash position and investment profile.

Please note; this role is ongoing and salary is $107,307 per annum (exclusive of superannuation)

About You:

  • Chartered Accountant / CPA
  • A tertiary qualification in commerce and/or accounting and experience in a similar role
  • Extensive, relevant experience in a similar financial role and current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and other applicable financial reporting requirements
  • Proven specialist experience in the finance and accounting field, including in the management of financial resources, project management, banking and asset management operations in a public sector organisation
  • Proven knowledge and skills including the ability to provide sound advice and guidance to managers and employees on a broad range of finance and accounting issues
  • Ability to critically analyse issues from different perspectives and draw sound inferences from information available
  • Ability to build team capability and commitment through mentoring relationships and ability to identify potential issues and setbacks and guides team to optimise outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to observe fine detail and identify gaps in information. Ability to look for logical sequences of information
